Job summary

School Social Work Association of America in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Blind Low Vision Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Responsibilities include Braille literacy, tactile graphics, Nemeth Code math, assistive technology training, and collaboration with teams to create accessible classrooms and effective IEPs.

Qualifications

  • Valid teaching certification or licensure for visually impaired education.
  • Proven experience working with students who have visual impairments.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology, Braille, and tactile instructional methods.
  • Ability to develop individualized education plans according to patient needs.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with teams, families, and specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver tailored instructional plans focusing on Braille literacy, tactile graphics, and math via Nemeth Code.
  • Incorporate adaptive tools and assistive technology training to enhance learning engagement.
  • Teach daily living, organization, and self-advocacy skills to promote independence.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to modify classroom environments and materials for accessibility.
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings, advocating for student needs and progress.
