Job summary

The Blending Technician Lead at Coca-Cola Consolidated in Baltimore is the SME for blending, testing, and sanitation of syrup and beverages. You will ensure compliance with specifications, support QA from receipt to sanitization, and participate in CMS routines and plant-wide improvement teams.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school completed.
  • Experience with chromatography and QA practices preferred.
  • Proven ability to work on a production team and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead blending requirements to meet production schedules.
  • Transfer knowledge to QA teammates on syrup blending and sanitation.
  • Maintain inventory management for raw materials and flag close-dated items.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving ability and verify sanitation per CMS.
  • Support team development and manage time independently.

Job Overview

The Blending Technician Lead is responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert in the blending, testing, and sanitation of syrup, beverages and water treatment. The Blending Technician Lead assures in-process syrup and beverages are in accordance with Company specifications and regulatory requirements. The Blending Technician Lead is proficient in Inventory, Ordering, Testing, Blending, and Integrated Management System policies. The Blending Technician Lead supports all QA teammates from raw material receipt through sanitization of equipment, pipes, and tanks to prevent microbiological contamination. The Blending Technician Lead upholds company standards and provides departmental leadership and development. This includes active participation in CMS routines and plant-wide improvement teams. The Blending Technician Lead interacts professionally with external plant stakeholders and communicates timely and clearly.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the blending requirements to ensure attainment of production schedule
  • Provide hands-on knowledge transfer to less experienced QA teammates in proper syrup, blending, and sanitization practices
  • Maintain the inventory management system for raw materials and inform Management of any close-dated material
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving ability
  • Verify sanitation activities in conformance with CMS matrix
  • Support team development and manage time independently
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Train and engage with teammates on the Manufacturing floor and QA department to assist with development
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC) technology
  • Working knowledge of Sensory program and requisites
  • Familiarity with process control (CPK, Cp) to minimize data variation around the mean
  • Computer skills: Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Effective communication skills
  • Support the Consolidated Management System (CMS)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Microbial knowledge and aseptic techniques
  • Ability to comprehend complex processing equipment including sanitation circuits
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school
  • Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical degree or experience
Work Environment

Noisy, wet, and extreme temperature environment
