Job summary

Cold Spring Brewing is seeking a Blending Technician for our fast-paced plant. You will batch products according to precise formulas, work with production teams to meet quality standards, and ensure traceability from ingredients to finished batches.

The role requires at least 1 year in blending/manufacturing, attention to detail, and the ability to read procedures. The environment is 12-hour shifts with potential night shifts; safety gear and GMP adherence are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Mix formulas according to written procedures.
  • Follow blending leadership directions on batching schedule and housekeeping.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment as directed.
  • Verify ingredients for correct quantities, item numbers, expiration dates, and quality.
  • Complete batch documentation (Batch Sheets, Blending Instructions, Master Sanitation Schedule).
  • Maintain traceability and inventory by recording ingredients used in each batch.

Status: Full Time Day Shift [Or Full Time Night Shift]
Hours: 12 hour shift - 6a-6p [or 6p-6a]
Schedule: 2-2-3 rotating shifts (work 15 days a month!)
[Plus a $2.00 night shift differential if applicable]
Summary

Our Blending Technicians work in the "kitchen of the plant" batching product according to precise formulas. They are responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient blending of raw materials to produce high-quality products. You will work closely with the production team to ensure that all products meet our strict quality standards.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Mix formulas according to written procedures.
  • Follow direction of blending leadership pertaining to batching schedule, housekeeping items, and additional duties/tasks.
  • Clean/sanitize various pieces of equipment.
  • Prior to beginning each batch, verify ingredients for correct quantities, item numbers, expiration dates, quality, etc.
  • Complete required documentation, including, but not limited to: Batch Sheets, Blending Instructions, Master Sanitation Schedule, Trailer Transfer Sheets.
  • Maintain traceability and inventory integrity by allocating the ingredients used in each batch using Data Collection programs.
  • Log CIP (Clean In Place) operations on equipment.
  • Assist Lead Blending Technician and Blending Supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Complete tasks listed on Master Sanitation Schedule at least at minimum required frequencies.
  • Interact with auditors, customers, and government officials in a professional and polite manner.
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Processes.
  • Properly dispose of ingredient packaging materials.
  • Break down and re-build ingredient kits to accommodate last minute changes.
  • Weigh "partial ingredients", label appropriately, and reseal with tamper evident tape.
  • Participate in batch approval process, assist in root cause analysis of out of spec batches.
What You Need to Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in a blending or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret formulas and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP or other inventory management systems
  • Experience with GMP and/or HACCP regulations
Job Setting

This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Employees will experience varying physical demands throughout the day, including standing for extended periods, walking on occasionally slippery floors, and handling equipment or materials.

Due to the nature of the facility, temperatures may fluctuate based on outside weather conditions including heat and cold.

The work environment can be loud, and hearing protection (ear plugs) is required. Additionally, to ensure safety and hygiene, employees must wear hairnets and refrain from wearing jewelry while on the production floor.

Alcohol is an ingredient in products we produce. We are unable to guarantee specific positions, work schedules or work environments that do not include working around alcohol.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Vision required: distance, close, color, peripheral and depth perception
  • Frequently required to stand, talk or hear, use hands to finger, feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Occasionally exposed to working on elevated platforms, with fumes or airborne particles and/or toxic/caustic chemicals.
  • Frequently exposed to working near mechanical parts and exposed to vibration.
