Job description

Position Summary

This individual will assist with Blending operations. The Blending Technician will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities specifically include, oversee the equipment necessary to run a successful manufacturing operation while improving plant quality, efficiency and safety. The Blending Operator will coordinate and take direction from the Production Assistant Manager to control plant machinery, perform tests and improve chemical machinery operation.

Some of your duties include:
  • Work in a hands‑on capacity with staff on chemical manufacturing equipment. Be a back‑up resource during times of short staffing.
  • Must have the ability to trouble‑shoot issues with chemical/manufacturing components.
  • Follow SOPs for computer controlled automatic batch building and manual batch building.
  • Assist in the production of waterborne and solvent borne finishes, sealers, stains and maintenance products.
  • Identify and correct equipment problems by performing standard troubleshooting techniques and perform scheduled maintenance using hand, power and specialty tools as necessary.
  • Maintain raw material levels (totes & dispersion tanks).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, mixers, tanks as directed by the Production Assistant Manager or machine software/manuals.
  • Enter raw material amounts and rework amounts for batches into the inventory system.
  • Observe mechanical devises in operation and locate causes of trouble.
  • Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines, travel when necessary.
  • Contributes to the development and continual improvement of the SHEQ Management System(s).
Skills you will need:
  • Must be able to set up and use all saws in the production process
  • Possess leadership qualities to motivate and ensure department is operating to full potential
  • Must be able to know set-ups on all millwork machinery
  • Possess the ability to read drawing and spec sheets and build parts accordingly
  • Have full knowledge of all mullion and specialty department parts
  • Organize inventory and prioritize projects
  • Perform related work/tasks as required
  • Must have manufacturing experience
You also need to be:
  • Be willing to work at a fast pace
  • Provide your own gloves when needed and/or allowed
  • Be willing to be exposed to dust when the machines are running
  • Be flexible - individuals may be moved to different lines depending on workload and staffing needs
  • Attendance is important, absenteeism and tardiness are not acceptable
  • Due to the environment of the warehouse, you must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic algebra/math skills for calculations concerning percent, dilutions, ratios, averages, etc.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in warehouse and plant operations are a benefit.

Pay rate: $16.00 Hourly with Weekly Pay
