Job summary

Peace River Citrus Products, Inc. is seeking a Blender – Production on the second shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm).

The role directs the flow of juice concentrates into blend tanks, follows exact formulas, and ensures product quality and regulatory compliance while coordinating with the Evaporator Room and Tank Farm. You will document all blend activities, support shift transitions, and uphold sanitation and safety procedures.

Job description

This is a Second Shift - 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Position.

SUMMARY:

The Blender – Production is responsible for directing the flow of juice concentrates and other ingredients into blend tanks, accurately following formulas, and ensuring product meets quality and regulatory standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth operations between the Evaporator Room and Tank Farm while practicing proper sanitation and safety procedures. The Blender is also responsible for the accurate documentation of all blend activities and for executing a thorough shift transition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Blending Operations:

• Operate blending equipment such as pumps, agitators, and control panels.
• Accurately follow Supervisor-provided blend formulas and production procedures.
• Monitor blending tanks to ensure correct product brix and temperature.
• Communicate regularly with Evaporator Operators to coordinate filling and brix levels.
• Sample and submit juice to the Q.C. and U.S.D.A. Labs for scoring and release.

Product Transfer to Tank Farm:

• Safely set up, route, and verify correct line paths and valves for transferring juice from the Blend Deck to designated Tank Farm tanks.
• Monitor juice temperature (must be at or below 17°F) during transfer.
• Accurately document beginning and ending measurements on the Foreman’s Report.
• Ensure tanks are properly closed and all measurements are reconciled.

Start of Shift Responsibilities:

• Arrive 15 minutes early for a smooth transition.
• Review current blend status with on-duty Blender.
• Record beginning measurements for all active tanks and report any discrepancies.

End of Shift Responsibilities:

• Record final tank readings and calculate total gallons blended, moved, and remaining.
• Ensure all measurements match and are approved by Supervisor.

Sanitation & Maintenance:

• Clean and maintain blending tanks, hoses, lines, and related equipment according to sanitation SOPs.
• Ensure cleanliness of the Blend Deck and Tank Farm work areas.
• Participate in preventative maintenance procedures as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in food/beverage manufacturing preferred.
• Strong math and measurement skills required.
• Ability to read and follow written formulas and SOPs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, lifting, and handling of hoses and equipment.
• Exposure to wet, cold, and noisy production environments.

Training Requirements:

Training will be delivered through lecture, discussion, demonstration, and hands-on practice and will cover:

General Knowledge:

• Peace River Citrus Products Safety Procedures, GMPs, and Quality/Food Safety Policies.
• Emergency response protocols.

Shift Transition:

• Accurate documentation and communication during shift changes.
• Importance of continuity between shifts.

Blending and Transferring:

• Operation of valves, switches, and controls.
• Understanding of product flow from blend tank to Tank Farm.
• Importance of temperature control and product integrity.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Proper cleaning procedures for blend tanks and transfer lines.
• Sanitation’s impact on product quality and regulatory compliance.

All training will be documented and signed by both the employee and Supervisor upon completion.
