Job summary

Westin is seeking a 1st Shift Blender at the WPM Main Plant in Fairbury, NE to blend and chill meat ingredients and ensure product quality. The role requires following GMPs, safety policies, and LEAN practices while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities include preparing blends, filling tumblers, packaging, logging temperatures, and moving products with a pallet jack. This position involves standing 8–9 hours, CO2 exposure, and physical strength requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand on concrete floors for 8-9 hours a day.
• Ability to safely walk on uneven surfaces including ramps and stairs.
• Ability to safely stand on platform while performing repetitive tasks above the level of shoulders.
• Ability to climb step and extension ladders.
• Ability to safely walk on extremely slick surfaces due to working or weather conditions.
• Strength Factor Level 4-Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
• This position will require working in an environment where CO2 is used.

Responsibilities

• Blend ingredients according to procedures and follow instructions.
• Fill tumblers with raw meat ingredients to mix and package.
• Complete required paperwork neatly and accurately.
• Identify any foreign materials or objects in the product.
• Record temperatures at required intervals and ensure proper logging.
• Take temperature of blends and correctly wrap and pallet products.
• Maintain product flow and proper mixture in blending room.
• Operate pallet jack to move products to coolers and blending areas.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report to Supervisor as needed.
• Assist with rework and sample product tests in blending room.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to understand ingredients and follow procedures to properly blend and chill ingredients.
• 1st Shift Blender must fill tumbler with raw meat ingredients to mix, and pour contents into combos.
• Fill out required paperwork in a neat and accurate manner.
• Responsible for identifying any foreign materials or objects found in product.
• Make sure temperature is recorded and done at required intervals
• Take temperature of combo and properly stretch wrap the combo and pallet
• Control temperature of product and strive to provide a high quality blended product. Follow proper mixture of raw materials as directed by the Supervisor.
• Know all aspects of Blending Room. This includes running of rework, running sample products and basic knowledge of equipment in department.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical problems and correct if possible to maintain production output. Contact your Supervisor if there is an issue.
• Raking the bacon out of the blender into the combos.
• Responsible for weighing and wrapping pallets and making sure product is covered properly.
• Using pallet jack, move product into and out of blend room and coolers
• Using pallet jack, maneuver combos of product into position.
• Maintain product flow
• Other various duties as directed by Supervisor
