Lancaster County Government is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform skilled building maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and painting for park facilities and the pool complex.

Under supervision, you will operate and maintain equipment, manage routine preventative tasks, and assist with grounds, janitorial duties, and after-hours calls.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two years of related maintenance experience.
  • Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and painting skills.
  • Basic computer skills including email and spreadsheets.
  • Valid PA driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • PA Dept of Agriculture Core Applicator Certification and Category 24 for pool operation preferred or achievable within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled building maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and painting.
  • Operate and maintain county park facilities and pool equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and assist with grounds and janitorial duties.
  • Work with a computer-based work order system and be on-call as needed.

Also providing maintenance and support services for other County agencies and departments as required. This person will provide facility maintenance for County-owned and leased facilities while providing a clean and safe environment for visitors, tenants and employees.This position is deemed essential and may be required to work during inclement weather, natural disaster, other emergency situations and/or when the County offices are officially closed due to inclement weather, natural disaster, other emergency situations, etc. This position may be required to work off its normal shift and may be required to work an "on-call" schedule.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThis person reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, position #00500290, at the Park location. This person will work directly with other Facility Management supervisors at the Park and other locations. This person may act as a lead worker on projects/tasks, as assigned.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAbility to follow County and Departmental Policies and ProceduresSafely operate vehicle (with or without a trailer) and equipmentProvides daily maintenance of all park facilities, including office spaces, pavilions, comfort stations, tenant properties and the pool complexSafely Operates/maintains equipment including backhoe/front-end loader, small dump truck and snowplow, skid steer, mini excavator, etc.Operates hand, power and rotary toolsResponsible for winterization and de-winterization of all park pavilions, comfort stations, hydrants and pool complexResponsible for daily operation of the County pool and bath house in season (i.e., programming VFD’s, programming and operating chemical feed computer, repair and replacement of pumps and 480V 3-phase motors, operating/maintaining filtration system, routine testing and treating water, etc.)Performs skilled building maintenance activities in one or more of the following areas while operating various tools and equipment, including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, HVAC and plumbing tools, HVAC and electrical testing equipment and related equipment as required.
