Boiler Operator / Building Engineer – Cordova, IL Location: Cordova, IL – Onsite Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time Schedule: Rotating day/night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 4 days on / 3 days off

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Boiler Operator / Building Engineer to support operations at a large industrial facility in Cordova, IL. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining boilers, utility systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment, and other building systems while maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, start up, maintain, and shut down boilers and utility systems.
• Monitor water chemistry and maintain water supply, boilers, cooling towers, and water treatment systems.
• Operate plant computer control systems and respond to equipment data.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs.
• Maintain accurate operational and maintenance logs.
• Identify and report equipment issues and safety concerns.
• Maintain clean and safe plant facilities.
• Follow applicable safety procedures and building codes.
• Manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma.
• 4–5 years of related building engineering, maintenance, or utility experience.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day/night shifts.
• Experience with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or utility systems.
• Ability to work onsite in an industrial facility.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry 50+ lbs.
• Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and/or CMMS systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Boiler Operator experience.
• Boiler Operator license.
• Universal CFC certification.
• Experience with water treatment, reverse osmosis, cooling towers, or industrial utility systems.
• Familiarity with plant computer control systems.
• Knowledge of building codes and hazardous waste procedures.
