Job summary

Houston Precision Fasteners is seeking a blasting operator to operate blasting equipment, inspect finished pieces with micrometers/gauges, and lay out work using precision devices. You will study blueprints, adhere to safety rules, and adjust machinery for pre-set settings as part of daily production tasks.

The role requires 0-2 years of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of experience/education
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control including knowledge of blasting processes
  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic and conversions of measurements
  • Basic skills in operating and controlling operations of blasting equipment or systems
  • Skilled in watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Skilled in active listening and following instructions
  • Skilled in monitoring and assessing performance of machinery and equipment
  • Skilled in basic quality control analysis (conducting tests and inspections of products and materials to ensure precision and conformance)
  • Ability to pay great attention to detail
  • Basic ability to measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to learn how to use an optical comparator
  • Arm-hand steadiness abilities
  • Dependability (being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations)
  • Multilimb coordination abilities to coordinate two or more limbs while standing to complete tasks such as using blasting machinery or equipment
  • Ability to quickly respond to signals or indicators
  • Ability to quickly move to grasp, manipulate, or assemble object
  • Ability to convey and understand oral and written information effectively

Assist with set up of and operate, or tend blasting equipment or machinery to smooth rough surfaces, shape surfaces or remove surface contaminants under very close supervision.
