Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc is seeking a Blaster Trainee to support daily drilling and blasting activities in the field. The role is an on‑the‑job apprenticeship requiring some explosives experience and a willingness to learn blasting supervision.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Blaster, maintaining schedules, setting up seismographs, and ensuring safety policies are followed. Travel may be required and ATF screenings must be passed.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years' experience with drills and explosives, or prior military explosive handling.
• Able to travel out of town as needed.
• Ability to obtain blasting licenses.
• Must pass ATF screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assists Blaster in charge with coordinating daily drilling and blasting activities.
• Trains to be proficient in blasting techniques and applications.
• Maintains understanding of explosives product use and safety procedures.
• Keeps the daily blasting production schedule and site security.
• Attends company meetings and participates in heads-up briefings.
• Assists with setting up seismographs and drill pattern layout.
• Monitors blast patterns in relation to digging and inventory usage.
• May transport explosives across state lines and complete related paperwork.
• Assists with all other duties as assigned.
