Maine Drilling & Blasting is seeking a Blaster Trainee with hands-on experience in drills and explosives. The role supports the Blaster, coordinates daily drilling and blasting activities, and trains across blasting techniques at field sites. Willingness to travel for paid training is required.

The position emphasizes safety, adherence to policy, and active participation in meetings. High school degree and basic blasting skills are essential for progression in this apprenticeship track.

Qualifications

• Requires at least two years of experience with drills and explosives or prior military explosive handling experience.
• Must be able to travel to northern divisions for paid training for 6–8 weeks.
• Ability to obtain blasting licenses and pass ATF screenings.
• Demonstrates basic blasting problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Blaster in charge with coordinating daily drilling and blasting activities.
• Trains to be proficient in blasting techniques across operations.
• Develops understanding of proper explosives use and applications.
• Maintains the daily blasting production schedule and site security.
• Attends company meetings and participates in daily heads-up meetings.
• Assists with setting up seismographs and drill pattern layout and review with the drill operator.
• Monitors blasting pattern relationships to digging and material handling.
