Job description

SUMMARY: To demonstrate knowledge and skills when applying protective coatings to surfaces.

Responsibilities

1. Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray machines.
2. Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning dirt, oil, and grease, removing old paint and wall coverings, and filling and smoothing cracks and holes.
3. Know the materials used in paints and the appropriate types for different materials such as plaster, wood, brick, and metal.
4. Have a good eye for color to mix and match paints accurately.
5. Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
6. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 18 years old; ability to work well with hands; ability to judge colors; working knowledge of application techniques; proper care and safe handling of tools, paints, solvents, and adhesives; physical ability to work long periods with arms raised overhead.
