Dyno Nobel invites applications for a Blaster position in the United States. The role involves designing, laying out, preparing and detonating planned explosive blasts in alignment with Service Operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, layout, prepare and detonate planned explosive related blasts with correct products, measured quantities and safe application.
• Supervise all aspects of the blast crew and ensure alignment with Service Operations.
• Proficient with company policies, procedures and safety standards including Dyno Nobel SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as Electronic Blasting Reports and inventory records.
• Utilize LAZER system and provide technical blasting support to customers and management.
• Investigate product complaints and poor-performing blasts and report to plant/regional management.

What You’ll Do

As a Blaster of distribution, you will d esign, layout, prepare and detonate planned explosive related blasts with correct products, measured quantities, safe application, and effective use of explosives in alignment with Service Operations Manual to meet customer's requirements at locations serviced by DNA (Dyno Nobel Americas). You will supervisor all aspects of blast crew. Other duties will include:

• Proficient knowledge and use practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, DNA Surface Blasting SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of Dyno Nobel products, product applications, competitor’s products, blasting practices, and mining\quarry principles.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding explosives technology, basic geology, and seismology.
• Ability to competently complete the Electronic Blasting Report, inventory records, and other appropriate documentation.
• Ability to use LAZER system.
• Design the appropriate use of explosives to properly the customers.
• Investigate all product complaints and poor performing blasts and report these to the proper plants, regional management and the Technical Service Resource.
• Promoting Zero Harm by observing safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
• Support DynoConsult to develop expert capability in Value-In-Use products and applications, including electronic detonators, Titan emulsions and blasting improvement technology.
• Support region and DynoConsult management to increase market position and revenue from customers including DEDA/JV members, independent distribution and direct sales to support EBIT objectives.
• Work with the Industry Sales Team on technical sales and marketing support for targeted national / major accounts.
• Develop professional relationships with both internal and external customers to successfully meet objectives and add value for customers, joint ventures, manufacturing sites and distribution.
• Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.
• Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of of related explosives industry work (i.e. bulk truck operator, de-watering truck operator), and may include a year in a Blaster II position.
• 2+ years working experience with progressively increasing professional or technical responsibility.
• People management skills including leadership, performance management and coaching
• Experience as a supervisor is preferred.
• Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
• Must be at least 21 years of age .
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
