Job description

Job title: Blanchard Grinder Operator

Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Supervisory responsibilities: None

Summary/objective

Steel Craft Technologies is seeking Blanchard Grinder Operators to join their team at the Belmont, MI plant. The operator sets up, adjusts, and operates a rotary wheel Blanchard grinder to grind flat or irregular surfaces to close tolerances and achieve the required finish. Entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply, as Steel Craft is willing to provide training.

Essential functions

1. Set up, adjust, and operate a rotary wheel Blanchard grinder to grind surfaces to specified tolerances and finishes.
2. Plan operating procedures, use magnetic tables, chucks, or clamps to secure workpieces, and select and set speeds. Make necessary adjustments to calibrate the machine.
3. Work from part drawings, specifications, and grinding instructions.
4. Use measurement tools such as scales, micrometers, and indicators for setup, adjustments, and quality checks.
5. Operate with minimal supervision, following instructions for new or complex tasks. Work is subject to inspection.

Minimum qualifications

• Ability to read a micrometer.
• Willingness to learn and be trained if necessary.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors.

Preferred qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience setting up and operating Blanchard grinding machines or related experience in the Tool and Die trade.
• General understanding of machinery.

Work environment

Manufacturing facility.

Physical requirements

• Must have full use of all limbs.
• Must be able to read and speak English.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.

Position details

Full-time position with various shifts available, which can be discussed during the interview. No travel required.
