Job description

Blade Repair Technician II

The Blade Repair Technician II completes repairs and fabrication of structural blade products. This role has successfully reached the Level 3 competency on TDR, is certified in at least two repair types, and is capable of training employees in the Repair Technician I work group.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in all basin repairs, having completed Level 3 competency on TDR.
  • Perform advanced repair functions across at least two repair types, qualified by a Specialist who confirms knowledge, behaviors, and ability to work independently.
  • Understand epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bag techniques.
  • Handle balsa and foam core materials appropriately.
  • Possess knowledge of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair.
  • Use powered hand tools safely and correctly.
  • Follow specifications regarding temperature and humidity restrictions to ensure quality.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining, assembly, or quality issues.
  • Maintain a clean work area, including machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Safely manage hazardous waste generation and storage in satellite accumulation areas.
  • Complete all offered repair coursework and training successfully.
  • Work independently, read drawings, complete repairs accurately, and document work properly.
  • Draft work instructions based on drawings.
  • Achieve 95% FPY (First Pass Yield) on repairs.
  • Perform repairs precisely, accurately, and timely, including documentation.
  • Train Repair Technicians at Level I.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of composite repair experience.
  • Meet or exceed TDR Level III, with good attendance and behavior, or have relevant experience with composites.
  • Strong teamwork skills, adaptability, eagerness to learn, excellent work ethic, dependability, and craftsmanship with hand tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend advanced instructions, memos, and drawings; write simple correspondence; present information effectively.
  • Pass annual Respiratory Fit Test and Confined Spaces Test.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use tools and gauges.
  • Technical understanding of advanced drawings and blueprints.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and self-drive.
  • 100% attendance and completion of all coursework and training.
  • Q role certification.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Flexibility for overtime.
