What you will do:
- The Mold Technician is responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process. Responsibilities include:
- Set-up and tear down
- Troubleshooting
- Part inspections
- Equipment maintenance
- Ensuring finished goods meet customer specifications
- Making machine adjustments as necessary
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with mold changes, color, model, and insert (clamp mold in press properly and level)
- Tool repair skills (blade, pins – core pins)
- Ability to maintain part quality, color weight, and part weight; troubleshoot problems
- Experience checking color and release to prevent running out
- Ability to ensure presses are running at standard cycle
- Experience programming robots for presses
- Cross-training in Maintenance duties (Set-up pods, hot graphics, tapers, pinners, blenders)
- Ability to prepare molds for storage including operating a 30-ton overhead crane
- Effective communication skills with co-workers from all shifts
- Ability to provide on-the-job training as needed for co-workers
- Knowledge of required safety procedures (LOTO, Sling & Crane, etc.)
- Ability to clean and maintain work areas (cleaning up water, oil, material spills, etc. following all safety regulations)
Additional qualifications that will help you be successful in this role:
- High School diploma and/or some technical training is a plus
- Two to five plus years of experience in an injection molding facility
- Understanding the mechanics of injection molding machines with PLC programming being a plus
- Familiarity with tools related to working on injection molding machines (knockout rod, clamps, fuses, etc.)
- Basic computer and math skills
- Ability to fine-tune and read a molding machine control screen
- Ability to read and interpret line diagrams/blueprints
- Ability to safely use a fork truck, man lift, and overhead cranes
- Good motor skills and the ability to lift 50 lbs; the role requires standing for up to 12 hours, lifting, turning, twisting, safety gate operation, reaching, pulling, pushing, and clutching
- Able to lift 40 lb. buckets up to catwalk, climb in and out of presses, stretch and reach overhead
- Able to work and collaborate with employees across various departments to complete work and achieve goals
- Willingness to work in a dirty, greasy area
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
