Job summary

Qualifications

• Certificate of Completion for a minimum of 16 total hours of training in lactation support, childbirth education and related areas.
• Five years of doula services in the last seven years can substitute for formal training.
• Three client letters of recommendation from licensed providers or community organizations are required.
• Extensive childbirth experience and a calming, nurturing presence are essential.
• Strong communication and ability to guide clients in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional, physical, moral, and educational support to mothers during birth and postpartum.
• Offer guidance on breastfeeding and infant care; assist with childbirth preparation classes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of childbirth, pre- and postnatal care and techniques.
• Remain calm, multitask, and respond to mothers' questions with empathy and accuracy.
• Collaborate with health care team under CPSP Program Manager supervision.
