Qualifications

• Birth Registrar credentials with Florida Vital Statistics required within first month.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems preferred.
• Strong knowledge Excel preferred.
• Knowledge of Florida Statutes, HIPAA HiTech, and related laws preferred.
• Strong analytic, and computer skills.
• Must also have good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Process birth certificates for newborn encounters within 5 days.
• Monitor OB census to meet required turnaround time per Florida Statutes.
• Resolve PHI discrepancies needed for state intake forms and overcome barriers for timely filing.
• Issue paternal documentation for birth certificate creation to parents to ensure signatures.
• Coordinate with Home Safe program liaison for Healthy Start enrollment where applicable.
• Ensure consent and documentation is obtained per State.
• Coordinate with nursing for newborn discharge and update tracking boards.
• Coordinate with finance to ensure proper billing of surrogate cases.
• Report urgent issues to OB Manager/Director and provide weekly turnaround time reports for compliance.
