Job summary

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology invites applications for a Coordinator for Bird Safety. This full-time, one-year term role will advance bird-safe initiatives across North America by coordinating projects, partnerships, events, and communications with diverse partners.

You will translate research into accessible tools, manage outreach materials, and represent bird-safe programs at conferences and campus events while supporting public engagement campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biology, environmental science, communications, policy, education, social science, or related fields and 2–4 years of exposure to stakeholder engagement, network building, or project coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of bird conservation, ornithology, and major bird threats (collisions, light pollution, habitat loss).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with ability to tailor messages to audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners across perspectives and backgrounds.
  • History of meeting project schedules and milestones with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with formal and informal science education or public outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate bird-safe projects and initiatives across internal teams and external partners.
  • Organize meetings, document action items, and track deliverables.
  • Plan and logistics support for conferences, summits, workshops, and partner events.
  • Track progress and prepare summaries, reports, and outreach materials.
  • Create, organize, and distribute educational and outreach materials to the public.
  • Maintain and update public-facing bird-safe communications (websites, emails).
  • Respond to inquiries from public, partners, and stakeholders.
