BCG Attorney Search in Irvine, CA is seeking a Biotechnology Patent Prosecution Associate with at least 2 years of experience. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D.

in biology or a related field and a JD, and will work on complex patent matters representing biotechnology clients. This role offers opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams, draft and prosecute USPTO applications, perform FTO analyses, and provide strategic IP counsel.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Duties

• Prosecute biotechnology patent applications, including drafting and filing patent applications, responding to office actions, and managing client portfoliosProvide legal opinions regarding patentability, validity, and infringement mattersConduct patentability searches and FTO (Freedom to Operate) analysisAdvise clients on intellectual property strategies and portfolio managementInteract with clients and technical teams to understand their inventions and translate technical details into patent applicationsRepresent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)Collaborate with other legal professionals and clients to provide comprehensive solutions in biotechnology patent law

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in biotechnology patent prosecutionStrong academic credentials with a proven track record in intellectual property lawExperience in patent prosecution, including filing and responding to USPTO office actionsAbility to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to clients and colleaguesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience working with clients in the biotechnology industry

Education

• Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related disciplineJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications
