Job summary

Lonza in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a Biotechnologist I to support GMP manufacturing of therapeutic proteins. You will operate production equipment, execute downstream purification, and help ensure quality and safety across the manufacturing process.

The role follows a 12-hour day shift rotating schedule (two on, two off, three on, two off, two on, three off). A high school diploma is required with AS/BS preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AS or BS in a science-related field preferred.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated environments preferred.
• Experience with downstream purification processes, chromatography operations, or filtration systems preferred.
• Column packing and viral reduction filtration experience is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing equipment, including purification systems, CIP, and SIP processes.
• Execute downstream manufacturing operations, including chromatography, filtration, and product processing activities.
• Support column packing, viral reduction filtration, and other purification-related operations.
• Perform laboratory tasks such as pH testing, conductivity testing, and product sampling.
• Move and transfer materials across production areas safely and accurately.
• Maintain equipment and facilities through routine cleaning and sanitization.
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and support documentation review.
• Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and continuous improvement activities.
