Job summary

Lonza in Portsmouth, NH is hiring a Biotechnologist I for a days shift in a fully site-based role. You will set up, operate, and monitor production processes under GMP/GDP, perform basic lab tasks, and move materials between production areas while maintaining documentation.

The actual location of this job is in Portsmouth, NH, US. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Schedule:

• Shift: Rotational Day Shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Pattern: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (repeating cycle)
• Weekend shifts include additional pay.

What you will do:

• Set up, operate equipment, and monitor production processes, including clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) operations and report production in written and electronic documents in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMPs) and good documentation procedures (GDPs), review documentation as appropriate.
• Attain qualification for all assigned tasks and maintain individual training plan.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as monitor pH, conductivity, test product samples, etc.
• Perform material movements, transfer raw materials, chemicals into, out of, across the production areas.
• Maintain facility and equipment through routine cleaning and sanitization, support 6S programs.
• Administrative tasks - attending shift exchange, meetings, sending/receiving emails, participating in projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent experience; AS/BS preferred.
• Preferred field of study: Science-related.
• Working experience in manufacturing; cGMP setting preferred, and/or some experience as an Associate Level I in the bio‑pharma industry.
• Proven logic and decision‑making abilities, with strong critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, reflecting a proven ability to collaborate and contribute effectively.
