Job summary

Lonza in Portsmouth, NH is hiring a Biotechnologist I (Days) to support production operations in a GMP environment. The role involves setting up and monitoring equipment, performing CIP/SIP tasks, and documenting results in compliance with GDPs and GMPs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; AS/BS preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing or bio-pharma setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate equipment, and monitor production processes per GMP/GDP.
• Attain qualification for assigned tasks and maintain training plans.
• Perform basic lab tasks such as pH and conductivity checks and sample testing.
• Move materials and manage transfers across production areas.
• Maintain facilities and participate in 6S and related programs.
• Attend shift exchanges and meetings, handle communications and projects.

Biotechnologist I (Days)

Portsmouth, NH

Schedule: Shift: Rotational Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) Pattern: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off (repeating cycle) Weekend shifts include additional pay.

What you will do:

• Set up, operate equipment, and monitor production processes, including clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) operations and report production in written and electronic documents in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMPs) and good documentation procedures (GDPs), review documentation as appropriate.
• Attain qualification for all assigned tasks and maintain individual training plan.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as monitor pH, conductivity, test product samples, etc.
• Perform material movements, transfer raw materials, chemicals into, out of, across the production areas.
• Maintain facility and equipment through routine cleaning and sanitization, support 6S programs.
• Administrative tasks – attending shift exchange, meetings, sending/receiving emails, participating in projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent experience; AS/BS preferred.
• Preferred field of study: Science-related.
• Working experience in manufacturing; cGMP setting preferred, and/or some experience as an Associate Level I in the bio‑pharma industry.
• Proven logic and decision‑making abilities, with strong critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, reflecting a proven ability to collaborate and contribute effectively.
• The employee is living the cultural beliefs with the flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities.
• Is open to and actively seeks out feedback on their performance and translates that feedback into action.
