Job summary

The BiG Laboratory & Internship Manager at Granite Technical Institute leads student participation in life science projects, work-based learning, and BiG internships, aligning them with industry partners. You’ll manage facilities, safety, and compliance while coordinating placements and multi-disciplinary BiG initiatives across district CTE programs.

Requires a bachelor’s in biology/chemistry/biotech, lab instrumentation experience (HPLC, MS, PCR preferred), and a background in mentorship.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or closely related field.
• Laboratory experience operating analytical instrumentation; hands-on HPLC, Mass Spec and PCR preferred.
• Teaching, coaching, or industry training in biotech/biology/chemistry at secondary/tertiary level preferred.
• Minimum of two years of professional life science lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate student internship placements with BiG start-up companies and industry partners.
• Design and execute authentic, industry-connected client projects.
• Prepare students for high-complexity lab workflows and safety standards.
• Track, analyze, and report student progress and outcomes.
• Collaborate with instructors to engage multiple disciplines in BiG projects.
