Job summary

Cal State East Bay seeks a Biotech Laboratory Coordinator for the Green Biome Institute (GBI) in Hayward. The role leads hands-on laboratory work, sequencing, budgeting, and liaison activities with partners. You will manage scheduling and supervise student researchers in a dynamic genomics program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Ability to perform DNA/RNA isolation and sequencing.
• Experience with sequencing platforms and data analysis.
• Ability to supervise student researchers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments as part of ongoing research.
• Obtain plant samples from Botanical Gardens and wild sources as directed.
• Isolate DNA and RNA and prepare sequencing libraries.
• Sequence samples using MiSeq, Ion Torrent, and Oxford Nanopore.
• Assemble and annotate genomic data using established tools.
• Analyze epigenetic, RNA and microbiome data with software.
• Train and supervise student researchers; maintain lab safety.
