Job summary

Output Biosciences is building a biological reasoning model capable of understanding biology at scale. We seek an engineer to own the agent orchestration layer, inference serving, internal tooling, and researcher-facing interfaces.

You will design and implement the agent orchestration system, skills and tools, scalable inference infrastructure, and MCP-compatible APIs, while upholding strong software engineering practices across the team.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience building production software systems.
• Experience integrating ML models into products or workflows, including LLM-based systems.
• Strong Python engineering skills with maintainable, well-tested production code.
• Experience designing APIs and building systems that other engineers and researchers depend on.
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and deployment pipelines.
• Systems thinking: design for reliability, observability, and graceful failure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the agent orchestration system that composes model capabilities into multi-step workflows.
• Implement agent skills and tools to expose model capabilities to workflows.
• Build inference infrastructure for serving models with low latency and high throughput.
• Design and build APIs and MCP-compatible interfaces for external systems.
• Create internal tools to accelerate research, from experiment management to evaluation pipelines.
• Establish and maintain software engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, code reviews, documentation.
