Job summary

Programmable Medicine is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the close process and ensure GAAP-compliant financials for a multi-entity biotech organization. The role requires hands-on execution, strong accounting judgment, and independence, with collaboration across FP&A and clinical/program stakeholders.

The position is on-site at our Redwood City headquarters, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Prior CRO/CDMO or biotech experience and CPA are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in CRO/CDMO/biotech preferred.
• Strong technical accounting judgment and ability to work independently.
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition and intercompany accounting.

Responsibilities

• Execute key components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules across multiple entities.
• Own accrual estimates in close partnership with FP&A and stakeholders.
• Process intercompany transactions and reconcile balances across the multi-entity structure.
• Apply technical accounting judgment to revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Support cost accounting activities including inventory and variance analysis.
• Document technical accounting positions and escalate with Controller.
• Maintain adherence to U.S. GAAP and accounting policies.
• Prepare schedules for audits and tax compliance.
• Identify and drive accounting process improvements and automation.
