Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Shared Resources Specialist I to support researchers in the Biospecimen Processing and Biorepository (BPB) shared resource. You will assist with bench work, processing biospecimens, operating analytical instruments and preparing data charts and summaries.

The position offers opportunities to learn protocol development, coordinate studies, and maintain equipment. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this collaborative lab environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1) Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Second option: Associate degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Third option: GED/High School Diploma with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a collaborative lab.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench work including processing biospecimens for PBMC, plasma and others; DNA and RNA extraction from samples.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and stocks.
• Learn and perform new technical skills and coordinate study projects.
• Coordinate maintenance on equipment and assist in supply management.
• Train users in sample preparation and submission; supervise interns and lab aids.
• Provide regulatory and compliance support for BPB shared resource.
• Report results to users and document laboratory activities; basic billing.
