Job summary

Berkeley Lab is seeking a Business Manager to lead the Biosciences Operations Center (BSBK). You will supervise four staff and guide seven more in travel, safety, procurement, timekeeping, onboarding, and executive support.

The role partners with Finance, Facilities, Safety, and HR, and collaborates with UC Berkeley campus teams. The position offers a hybrid work schedule tied to Lab operations, with a start date on or around November 1, 2026, and a strong focus on process improvements and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible business/financial management experience.
• At least 4 years in a people management or supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day administrative and business operations, including procurement, travel, conferences, timekeeping, calendars, and events.
• Establish and maintain Ops Center policies and procedures, ensuring DOE and Berkeley Lab compliance.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for space, resource, and business issues.
• Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer service.
• Partner with Lab Facilities and Finance to manage space, budgets, funding, and resource allocation across locations.
• Supervise and develop staff, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
