Job summary

Lonza in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Cell Culture Process Engineer to join the R&D Strategic Innovation Accelerator team. This site-based role focuses on designing scalable mammalian bioprocesses and solving complex challenges to advance next-generation biomanufacturing.

You will design experiments, operate bioreactor labs, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and contribute to technology transfer while maintaining safety and high-quality records.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of bioprocessing, cell culture, or process development experience.
• Experience with bioreactors and upstream process development.
• Knowledge of downstream processes such as chromatography, filtration or purification.
• Strong data analysis skills and familiarity with experimental design principles.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation in bioprocess development by designing and executing experiments in a state-of-the-art mammalian bioreactor lab environment.
• Apply scientific and engineering expertise to solve complex challenges using principles of cell biology, biochemistry, mass and energy transfer, and process modeling.
• Gain hands-on experience with advanced bioprocessing technologies while developing proficiency in bioreactor lab operations, specialized equipment, and best practices.
• Collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams to drive impactful innovation across biomanufacturing subspecialties.
• Champion continuous improvements by evaluating equipment, workflow processes, and laboratory systems to drive our lab culture of valuing safety, rigor, and efficiency.
• Communicate technical insights and project outcomes through presentations, reports, and interactions with internal stakeholders and clients.
