Job summary

Manus Bio in Augusta, GA is seeking a Process Design Engineer to lead lab operations, design new processes, optimize existing ones, and support capital projects and startup initiatives.

You will collaborate with Process Development to scale from lab to pilot plant, develop PFDs/P&IDs, ensure safety and compliance, and deliver detailed engineering reports. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering; 3–15 years in plant/process design.
• Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, transport, kinetics.
• Industrial setting experience.
• Ability to read P&ID’s at a high level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient in Windows-based software.
• Good time management and teamwork.
• Flexible hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual design of new processes including P&ID development, scale‑up calculations, mass & energy balances, EFDs, and PFDs.
• Gather and organize information for design development.
• Lead capital projects and startup support, including scope, cost justification, control logic, and startup.
• Ow n Process Safety Management responsibilities including PHA participation and MOC for changes.
• Troubleshoot design issues and prepare detailed engineering reports.
• Prepare as-built drawings from input or field walk‑downs.
• Collaborate with Process Development to scale lab experiments to pilot plant and collect necessary data.
• Assist with full‑scale-up of pilot processes and KPI reporting.
• Identify plant material balances, capacity evaluations, and equipment needs.
• Ensure safety and compliance with company requirements.
