AbbVie is seeking a Biopharmaceutical R&D Data Analytics & Visualization Scientist in North Chicago, IL. The role is hybrid (onsite 3 days a week / 2 days WFH).

You will partner with R&D scientists to structure analytical questions, develop data capture and visualization solutions, and lead tools that enable data-driven decisions impacting patients’ lives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology or related field with 2 years pharma data science experience.
• Alternative: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years in healthcare/pharma as data scientist.
• Experience applying statistics, design of experiments and modeling to scientific data.
• Ability to translate data results for non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop statistical analyses & visualizations in Python; SQL data work.

Job Description

Biopharmaceutical R&D Data Analytics & Visualization Scientist, AbbVie Inc., North Chicago, IL. Hybrid (onsite 3 days a week/ 2 days WFH).

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with R&D scientists to structure & answer analytical questions critical to the success of early discovery pipeline.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to frame & tackle essential analytical questions that enable scientists to make data driven decisions.
• Develop & implement innovative technology solutions through data capture, integration, visualization of large, scientific data sets.
• Lead initiatives to implement state-of-the-art tools & enable analysis of scientific data, leading insights to a remarkable impact on patients’ lives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Must have a Master’s degree in biology, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, chemistry, data science or related field & 2 years of industry work experience in the healthcare/pharma industry as a data scientist or in an informatics role.

Of the required work experience, must have 1 year:

• applying statistical analyses, experiment design, regression & modeling to scientific data sets;
• translating data results in a non-technical format for written & oral presentations to R & D stakeholders;
• developing statistical analyses & visualizations of scientific data in Python;
• extracting, transforming, & loading data & writing SQL queries, table creation, views, & reporting;
• performing academic or industry research in life sciences or the pharmaceutical industry; &
• managing multiple projects effectively with timely deliverables.

Alternatively, would accept a Bachelor’s degree in biology, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, chemistry, data science or related field & 5 years of industry work experience in the healthcare/pharma industry as a data scientist or in an informatics role.

Of the required work experience, must have 5 years:

• applying statistical analyses, experiment design, regression & modeling to scientific data sets; &
• translating data results in a non-technical format for written & oral presentations to R & D stakeholders.

Of the required work experience, must have 3 years:

• developing statistical analyses & visualizations of scientific data in Python;
• extracting, transforming, & loading data & writing SQL queries, table creation, views, & reporting;
• performing academic or industry research in life sciences or the pharmaceutical industry; &
• managing multiple projects effectively with timely deliverables.

Work experience may be gained concurrently. Will accept combination of education, training & work experience.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $139,818 - $142,500 per year.
