Job summary

AstraZeneca invites applications for Head of Biometrics for Infectious Disease. You will lead the global biostatistics and statistical programming capability supporting the ID pipeline, shaping quantitative strategy across CDPs and ensuring high‑quality analysis and regulatory submissions.

Ideal candidates have a PhD in a quantitative field and 5+ years in pharma, with expertise in multiple modalities, CDISC standards, and experience presenting to major health authorities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative field (MSc considered with exceptional experience).
• 5+ years in pharmaceutical/life sciences industry.
• Expertise across Phase I–IV clinical trials and R&D lifecycle understanding.
• Experience providing statistical and programming support to clinical development projects in a matrix environment (including pivotal Phase 3 studies).
• Experience with innovative statistical methods and regulatory language in analysis plans.
• Experience with global regulatory submissions and interactions with major Health Authorities (FDA/EMA).
• Understanding CDISC data standards and data handling practices.
• Leadership or active involvement in external statistical groups or collaborations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a cross‑skilled biometrics team within a global matrix structure.
• Ensure resource deployment for maximum impact across multiple programmes.
• Drive high‑quality, cutting‑edge statistical capabilities for clinical development planning, analysis, and reporting.
• Influence early/late development plans and decision criteria with clear uncertainty quantification.
• Represent Biometrics on leadership teams and collaborate with cross‑functional groups.
