Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University seeks an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician to perform preventive maintenance, calibration, testing, and repair of biomedical and clinical data/network systems across the campus network.

The role requires a degree in electronics or biomedical engineering (BS preferred) with 1–2 years of related repair experience. Strong teamwork, documentation skills, and ability to support multiple locations are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with progressive repair and PM experience on biomedical equipment.
• 1 year progressive experience in electronic/electromechanical repairs or 2 years with degree.
• Ability to perform component level repairs ~35% of time.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, safety checks and repairs on biomedical and communications equipment.
• Install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment per manuals and standards.
• Maintain documentation, service records, and literature for biomedical equipment.
• Lead or participate in training on equipment and electrical safety.
• Visit multiple locations as required by the department.

Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.Job DutiesCompletes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time.Provides safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment.Identifies and obtains supplies and other materials required to service, maintain, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost.Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature such as manufacturer’s literature, references standards, specifications, and other documents necessary for supporting the biomedical program.Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.Makes effective presentations to small groups of peers to ensure staff remains up to date on new trends.Provides in-service and training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety.Minimum QualificationsAssociate’s Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields orHigh School Diploma/GED along with 2 years of progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment will be considered in lieu of degree.1 year progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipment.Ability to perform component level repairs at least 35% of the time.Proficient in the repair and preventive maintenance of the following devices: Anesthesia Machines, Anesthetic Gas Analyzers, Blood Cell Savers, and the Diagnostic Ultrasound machines.Knowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance procedures.Knowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipment.Knowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systems.Ability to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts specification materials in order to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systems.Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self motivated and self disciplined.Effectively deals with multiple and changing priorities.Must be able to visit multiple business locations.
