Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to respond to service calls, diagnose and repair basic biomedical equipment, and perform preventive maintenance at customer hospital sites in the Newport News area.

Under supervision, you will assist more experienced technicians, document actions, and ensure compliance with GE policies and hospital protocols. On-call rotation and after-hours coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor-level education in electrical/biomedical/mechanical engineering or equivalent military training.
• Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Willingness to work after hours or rotate on-call shifts, including weekends.
• Must have a valid driver's license and work eligibility in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls to diagnose and repair basic biomedical equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and safety/environmental inspections.
• Assist more experienced technicians on repairs and complex tasks.
• Communicate effectively with customers and teammates; document actions.
• Follow GE policies and hospital procedures; meet regulatory requirements.
• Maintain tools, spares, and calibration; support on-call coverage when trained.
