Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks a Biomedical Technician to respond to service calls within hospitals, diagnose and repair biomedical equipment, and perform planned maintenance to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires onsite work at customer locations and willingness to travel to Ada, OK, and surrounding areas for effective on‑site support. Equal opportunity employer; relocation assistance provided.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent military education; or participation in GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship; or high school diploma/GED and 2+ years servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
  • Analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers clearly.
  • Willingness to be available after hours or on a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment is not sponsored for visas.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement repairs, and perform PM and safety/environmental inspections.
  • Assist more experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers.
  • Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up.
  • Implement GE/customer facility contract and support business goals/objectives as instructed.
  • Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
  • When trained, share on‑call responsibility.
  • Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
  • Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, and perform calibration.
  • Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Utilize manuals, tech support, Facetime, and online resources to answer questions during PM.
  • Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety requirements, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Job Description Summary

The Biomedical Technician will respond to service calls within a hospital or healthcare system in Illinois. You will evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair and planned maintenance on biomedical equipment, providing service excellence to drive customer satisfaction.

This role requires the candidate to work onsite at customer locations and be willing and able to travel to Ada, OK, and surrounding areas to provide effective onsite customer support.

  • Maintain daily communications with customers as directed to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up, leading to strong customer relations and ongoing satisfaction.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent military education; or participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; or high school diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
  • Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
  • Willingness to be available "after hours" or work a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage as necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain license.
  • Successful applicant must comply with GEHC’s standard background check, including a post‑offer drug test, and all customer access policies such as required immunizations, additional drug tests or background checks (including federal background checks when applicable).
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Employment is not sponsored for visas.
  • One year of relevant experience.
Special Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and have good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
