Job summary

Columbia University is seeking a Technician B to provide bench and data analysis support across cell biology, immunology, and functional genomic assays. The role contributes to experiments and general research activities within a dynamic lab team.

The position involves maintaining primary mouse and human cell cultures, performing molecular assays, and assisting with animal models, sequencing experiments, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field.
• Experience in a research lab preferred and able to work with animal models.
• Comfort with experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with study protocols (IACUC/IRB) and maintain lab safety.
• Perform routine cellular and molecular assays (transformation, RNA/DNA prep, cDNA synthesis, qRT-PCR, transfection, ELISA, Western blot).
• Maintain mouse and human cell cultures, including iPSC lines and differentiation.
• Use microscopy and FACS for cell characterization and functional assays.
• Prepare histology sections, staining, imaging and data analysis.
• Assist with breeding, genotyping and animal model preparation.
• Support RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, CRISPR screens and high-content imaging.
• Interpret and present data; contribute to manuscript prep.
• Order and manage lab supplies and equipment.
• Perform other duties as needed.
