Job summary

The Division of Biomedical Informatics and AI within the Department of Public Health Sciences at MUSC invites applications for a research-track Assistant Professor to advance methodological research in biomedical informatics, AI, and applications in the biomedical domain.

The appointee will maintain an externally funded program, teach in graduate programs, and contribute to cores such as ML analysis of health data and AI-assisted evidence synthesis.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or related field.
• MD with appropriate technical education and experience.
• Postdoctoral fellowship training in biomedical informatics is a strong plus.
• Proven track record of teaching experience at the graduate or doctorate level.
• Preferred qualifications include research experience, with a strong track record of publications and extramural funding.
• Participation in leading medical informatics conferences (e.g. AMIA) and related working groups is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an extramurally funded research program and teach in the DPHS graduate programs, offering expertise to research cores (e.g., machine learning analysis of health data, AI-assisted medical evidence synthesis, and others).
