Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Biomedical Associate in Philadelphia, PA to work on biomechanics, implants, and computational modeling for medical devices. You will collaborate on experimental and modeling studies, contribute to regulatory and IP-related work, and publish findings with the team.

The role emphasizes translation of scientific insights into practical regulatory and product outcomes, alongside ongoing professional development within Exponent’s medical device practice.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biophysics, or a related field.
• Specialized knowledge in computational modeling tools (e.g., finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, etc.) for medical devices and/or anatomy/physiology.
• Significant experience using CAD tools and developing codes/scripts for data analysis and workflow automation.
• Familiarity with multiphysics problems using COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with mechanical testing of implants, biomaterials, and tissue.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing and executing biomechanics, biomaterials, implant testing, and computer simulation projects for implantable medical devices.
• Evaluating implant materials and developing computational models of implants and tissue interactions.
• Providing technical evaluations for FDA and consulting on IP and product liability matters.
• Publishing at conferences and in peer‑reviewed literature.
• Helping market the group’s capabilities to clients and the scientific community.
• Developing additional expertise through Exponent’s technical consulting services.
