Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech in Raritan, NJ seeks a Biomedical Engineering Intern for Surgical Imaging to help develop benchtop models simulating human tissue and blood. You will validate imaging capabilities and work with researchers across imaging, software, and hardware teams.

This internship emphasizes hands-on lab work, data analysis, and iterative testing to accelerate the laparoscopic camera software development.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college program pursuing a master’s or PhD.
Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) and during hours agreed with the hiring manager.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Commitment to June 1 - August 20, 2027 or June 21, 2027 - September 3, 2027.
Target majors include Automation Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Robotics Engineering or closely related field.

Responsibilities

Design and develop benchtop ex vivo and in vitro models simulating human tissue and blood.
Plan and implement experiments to validate model performance and imaging capabilities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including imaging scientists and software engineers.
Automate testing workflows to improve efficiency and reproducibility.
Maintain detailed documentation of experimental procedures and results.
Present findings and insights to the broader R&D team.
Support validation of imaging algorithms using benchtop models.
Explore innovative materials and methods to improve model realism and functionality.
