Description:

Clinical / Biomedical Imaging Engineer

The Biomedical Imaging Engineer is accountable for the daily service repair needs of designated imaging equipment, which includes multiple modalities. Responsible for providing on-site engineering support and performing maintenance and repairs on assigned imaging equipment. These modalities include Nuclear Medicine, MRI, CT, and Rad/Fluro, in addition to low-end diagnostic imaging equipment.

  • Administers inspections, investigations, calibrations, and repairs, in addition to troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on imaging equipment.
  • Helps expedite the resolution of service issues and ensures high-quality service is delivered to customers.
  • Performs 80% of repairs and 100% of calibrations on equipment, while working with OEM and Biomed Imaging Specialists, responsible for maintaining assigned equipment at 96% plus clinical availability.
  • Monitors and maintains an assurance plan for equipment safety and mandatory performance levels.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and inspects findings to determine the source of problems and performs troubleshooting, repair, replacement, or other corrective actions.
  • Assists with preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Maintains all appropriate history and documents related to assigned equipment in the imaging database. Documents and records information to be included in the repair records in accordance with company policies and regulatory agencies.
  • Develops and maintains a basic understanding of PACS and hospital networking.
  • Consults with end users and management on emerging technologies as they pertain to imaging equipment. Assists in the development and implementation of training materials related to job function.
  • Conducts basic on-site in-service training on the proper operation of instrumentation.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.

This is a full-time days position located at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Required Criteria
  • Associate’s Degree
  • Licensure/Certifications
  • Vendor Level Certification
  • 2-4 years of experience working on the repair of electronic and mechanical equipment
  • 12 months of current technical experience (modality specific)
  • Strong technical background in one or more of the Medical Imaging disciplines
