Job summary

Avera Health in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician I to repair, install, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment across varying complexity, including life support devices. You will perform preventive maintenance, safety testing, and diagnose malfunctions while maintaining thorough documentation and collaborating with clinical teams.

Preferred associates in electronics or biomedical tech with at least one year in repair and maintenance; strong communication, safety

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or military equivalent in electronics or biomedical equipment technology.
• Minimum of one year related experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Willingness to perform essential job functions with accommodations as needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork capabilities to coordinate with clinical and operational staff.

Responsibilities

• Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment and systems of simple to moderate complexity, including life support devices.
• Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on clinical equipment.
• Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain documentation on inspections, repairs and failures; assist with third-party repairs.
• Provide technical guidance to staff on equipment operations and maintenance.
• Maintain service event records and inventory, coordinating with others.
• Assist with in-service educational programs on equipment use and care.
