Job summary

VA Puget Sound Health Care System seeks a Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to troubleshoot and maintain medical devices and clinical systems within the HTM department. You will support the medical equipment management program and perform planned maintenance on patient care equipment.

Applicants may qualify through various education/certification routes and KSAs will be evaluated, including knowledge of physics, electronics, networking, and document procedures.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher degree in biomedical technology or biomedical engineering.
• Associates or higher degree in electronics/IT/engineering (other than biomedical) with 1 year of creditable experience.
• Completion of the Department of Defense (DOD) biomedical equipment technician training program.
• Completion of a DOD training program in repair/maintenance of electronic systems or IT with 1 year of creditable experience.
• Completion of a HTM certificate program with internship.
• HTM certificate program without internship with 1 year experience.
• Hold or having held CBET/CRES/CLES/CHTM certification; ongoing maintenance not required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and performs planned maintenance on medical devices and clinical systems.
• Supports the medical equipment management program.
• Assists with installation, calibration, and routine testing of equipment.
• Documents services provided in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
