Job summary

Intelas, a Compass Healthcare company, is seeking an Electrical/Biomedical Equipment Technician in Newport News, VA to perform maintenance and safety inspections on patient care devices, manage service schedules, and support hospital operations.

Required: an associate degree in electronics/biomedical equipment technology, 3 years of hospital equipment servicing, valid driver’s license for travel, excellent communication and customer service, and willingness to work independently with some

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronics/biomedical equipment technology or equivalent
• 3 years servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital environment
• Valid driver’s license for travel
• Ability to work independently with some supervision
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Strong organization and time management
• Familiarity with tracking service histories and asset reports
• Willingness to be on-call as required

Responsibilities

• Performs planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections on patient care equipment per standards.
• Manages equipment and schedules service activities.
• Pre-acceptance inspections and develops PM procedures; maintains procedure manuals.
• Ensures test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
• Responds to clinical department calls to evaluate and rectify issues.
• Researches and orders repair parts within budget parameters.
• Maintains purchase order log and invoices for payment (field staff).
• Provides informal training to equipment users and staff as needed.
• Recommends service strategies to the Department Manager.
• Participates in Quality Improvement/Risk Management initiatives.
• Maintains an orderly and functional work environment.
• Provides emergency on-call responsibilities as needed.
• Documents significant asset actions in compliance with practices.
• Participates in department meetings and collaborates with technical personnel.
