Job summary

Trinity Health is looking for a Biomedical Equipment Technician to perform preventive maintenance, safety testing, and repairs on diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment. This role supports Clinical Engineering operations and ensures timely service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Electronics or related field; CBET preferred.
• Basic understanding of electronics, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• 1–2 years PM/CM on medical equipment per policy.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment; train others on test devices.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission, CAP, FDA regulations for clinical equipment.
• Ability to operate complex test equipment and interpret data.
• Computer literacy and ability to input data; follow complex written instructions.
• Ability to provide or coordinate in-service training to clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform PM procedures on various general and specialized clinical equipment.
• Follow manufacturers' recommendations and industry standards for PM.
• Perform CM, diagnose problems, document results to meet regulatory requirements.
• Notify users and CE management of repair status and delays.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to minimize disruption during PM.
• Determine parts needs and sources; obtain pre-approval if not cheapest option.
• Complete corrective and planned maintenance work orders per policy.
• Promote teamwork and seek continuous process improvement.
• Order parts and advise on test equipment to CE Manager/Lead Technician.
• Provide on-call coverage after hours as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by CE leadership.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and Trinity Health policies.
