Job summary

Blue Water Thinking in Fort Meade, SD, seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to ensure reliability and safety of networked medical equipment. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, security, and IT integration with Cerner.

The role requires hospital or VHA experience, a two-year associate degree or higher, and strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HL7, DICOM, and network configurations.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in applied science or equivalent military training.
• At least 3 years hospital/healthcare maintenance experience; 1 year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of virus protection software, patches and information security tools.
• Experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, network security and DICOM standards.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and network testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in medical devices per manufacturers' guidelines.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new medical equipment for safety and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity to maintain medical device security and patient data protection.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment following instructions and safety guidelines.
• Monitor hazard recalls and coordinate with manufacturers and departments for resolution.
• Perform software repairs/updates and ensure compatibility with systems.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Provide technical training to medical staff on equipment operation.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting biomedical tech.
