Job summary

STERIS is seeking a field service technician to diagnose, repair, and document fixes on hospital-grade medical equipment across California. You’ll start at client sites with toolkit and company laptop, handling preventive maintenance and complex repairs.

You’ll collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Sales to optimize customer outcomes, capture compliance documentation digitally, and travel within the territory to cover multiple locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years in a mechanical/technical role.
• Associate degree or relevant certifications may count toward the technical requirement.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet vendor credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain STERIS and competitor medical equipment, systems, and components.
• Own your schedule to meet Customer and business priorities: preventive maintenance, service and warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and related tasks.
• Collaborate across teams—including Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management—to escalate issues and resolve complex problems.
• Use advanced digital tools to complete regulatory/compliance documentation and accurately record all troubleshooting steps.
• Explain findings to Customers, provide pricing and repair options, and—with management support—partner with Sales to elevate Customer experience and identify new opportunities.
• Travel within the territory to support multiple locations as needed.
