Job summary

ARETUM Holdings LLC's Veterans Engineering seeks a Biomedical Engineer/Clinical Engineer to manage complex medical equipment across its full lifecycle, including planning, procurement, implementation, risk assessment and replacement strategy.

The role oversees medical device inventories, lifecycle programs, regulatory compliance initiatives, and networked medical device databases, while advising healthcare leadership on emerging technologies, patient safety, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hospital or healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment or managing a hospital medical equipment program.
• Experience within a medical center and Biomedical Engineering department.
• Knowledge of computer-based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as it applies to medical technology in the VHA.
• Ability to develop a curriculum for continuing education on safe and effective use of medical technology.
• Ability to manage recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, ensuring patient safety.
• Ability to conduct capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment.
• Serve as subject matter expert in biomedical engineering to support clinical technology.
• Ability to advise staff on medical technology viability, compatibility, safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle of medical equipment projects from planning to installation and testing.
• Coordinate with clinical, technical, and education staff for medical system deployments.
• Oversee networked medical device installations and risk assessments for networked systems.
• Maintain the Networked Medical Device Database (NMDD) and medical equipment inventory.
• Prepare reports for the Chief of Biomedical Engineering on KPI statuses and updates.
