Job summary

The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix seeks a Research Data Scientist to support biomedical research in genomics, single-cell biology, and spatial transcriptomics in the Wondisford Laboratory, Department of Internal Medicine. The role focuses on developing computational workflows, QC, clustering, differential expression analysis, and multimodal data integration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent; 5 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in genomic, transcriptomic, or large-scale data analysis
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix and command-line environments
• Experience with single-cell and spatial transcriptomics workflows
• Ability to develop reproducible computational workflows in HPC environments

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize pipelines for sRNA sequencing, snRNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics datasets
• Process and analyze large-scale genomic datasets from 10x Genomics platforms
• Perform QC, clustering, cell type annotation, differential expression analysis and data integration
• Apply machine learning and visualization tools to identify patterns and generate hypotheses
• Generate publication-ready figures and collaborate with investigators on data interpretation and manuscript preparation
• Coordinate data transfer, sequencing submissions, and collaboration with service providers
