Job summary

The Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a Visiting Student Researcher to contribute to AI, biomedical informatics, and health data science projects in a collaborative academic environment.

This temporary 2-year appointment focuses on data preprocessing, ML model development, literature reviews, and dissemination of findings, working with faculty, research staff, and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biomedical/health informatics, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, AI, or related field OR equivalent experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Familiarity with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Responsibilities

• Research and AI model development, including data preprocessing and maintaining codebases.
• Project development and data analysis through literature reviews and model testing.
• Scientific writing, figure/table preparation, and dissemination of findings.
• Collaboration with faculty, postdocs, students, and staff on interdisciplinary projects.
